Northwest Ohio: Implicit Bias Training for Maternal and Child Health
The Ohio Department of Health’s Bureau of Maternal and Child Health is sponsoring training for community partners regarding implicit bias. ODH grantees and community partners are encouraged to register one staff person per funded grant program. Participants can expect the following training outcomes: (1) define and understand implicit bias (2) recognize sources of implicit bias, (3) how to identify bias at work in maternal and child health services and (4) how to practice culturally intelligent strategies to disrupt bias. In determining what individuals may need to enhance their culturally intelligent strategies, participants will take Cultural Intelligence (CQ) assessments. The CQ assessments will measure the cultural intelligence level of participants before and after the training. The pre-training CQ assessment information will be confidential for each participant and help individuals create a personal development plan for mitigating implicit bias during the training. A private link will be sent to registrants within 3-5 business days of registration. The post assessment is given after participants have had time to implement their personal development plan. The training is free of charge. There will be a break for lunch on your own.
